Sweaty Hands at an Interview
HELP! My Hands Are Sweating And I’m In the Waiting Room Before My Interview!
We get this question all the time so we asked one of our job search experts to give us some tips to help you all dry-off before the big shake!
Rad4: So what do you suggest for a nervous (or just sweaty) candidate before heading into an interview with wet hands?
Matt: I always tell my clients to arrive early for the interview and scope out the nearest restroom. Take your time and go run your hands under cold water for a good minute. Then dry them completely. Tip – if you’re like me and you use moisturizer on your hands – skip it the day of your interview!
Rad4: By the way, how early is too early for an interview?
Matt: I suggest arriving to the building or office at least 15 minutes early but not going into the actual office until about 9 or 10 minutes prior to the agreed upon time. Too early is annoying – in college we said: Early is on-time, on-time is late, and late is unacceptable. Live by it!
Rad4: Any other tips for those wet hands?
Matt: Use your pants! Rest your hands, palms down, on your knees prior to heading in to the interview. Keep them on there for as long as possible so the fabric soaks up your sweat!
Rad4: Awesome advice!
